LIBRARIAN: MR. Dusty Newman
Mr. Newman was born in Kingsport, Tennessee where he has lived all his life. He attended Kingsport City schools and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett in High School. While attending East Tennessee State University he began working part-time at Sears in Kingsport. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Library Science he began teaching in the Scott County Virginia School System. During his teaching career he served as the Librarian at three different schools—Yuma Elementary, Hilton Elementary and Duffield Primary Schools. In 2009 he retired after 31 years of service. In September 2011 he retired from Sears after 34 years.
Since his retirement from Scott County he has served as a substitute librarian for the Sullivan County Public Library System and now as our librarian at St. Dominic School.
Mr. Newman enjoys reading and studying military history—and especially walking Civil War Battlefields. He also serves Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church as an active Elder.
