Andrew Cooper has been a licensed educator since 2013 but he has been "in education" all his life. With a family full of educators, Andrew was destined to follow in the footsteps of those who came before him. A native of Asheville, NC, he started his teaching career in Western North Carolina teaching high school Spanish and would eventually also teach middle school Spanish, 8th grade Science, and 8th grade STEM. He has coached middle school basketball, football, baseball, and high school soccer and served in many leadership roles during this time with Mitchell County Schools (Bakersville, NC). In June 2021, he accepted a job as the Director of Development at St. Mary's Catholic School in Johnson City, TN and on July 1, 2022 he became the Principal of St. Dominic Catholic School.
Andrew holds an undergraduate degree from Berea College (Berea, KY) in History with a minor in Spanish and a Masters degree in School Administration and Supervision from Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA). He is a licensed educator in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. He has been married to the love of his life Kennia since 2009 and they have three children; Julian, Sofia, and Santiago. Andrew and his family love to hike, take spur of the moment day trips, and to generally enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors in the Southern Appalachians.
